5 years of With Content

This month marks With Content’s 5th anniversary.

To be honest, I never expected us to come so far.

Rather, it never occurred to me that, five years later, a company I created from nothing would take on a life of its own.

Even when I left to join a mental health company this year, With Content continued to grow, thanks to an amazing team who stepped up to the plate and smashed home run after home run for us.

That’s when it really sunk in for me: you can’t capture employee care with tools and numbers.

It is built the old-fashioned way: walking with each other through tough times, picking the choice that puts a team member’s welfare over the company’s profit, setting policies that express trust that the team will make thoughtful decisions on their own, and so on.

As 2022 progressed, I realized that we were doing something right at With Content – something that might not be possible in a venture-backed company, facing the pressures of fulfilling someone else’s hopes and dreams.

As long as I’m in a position to make the call, I will always put the welfare of my team first.

To be clear, welfare is not always about time off and incentives. It is also sometimes about gently pushing a team member toward a potential that he/she may not see at that point in time. Deciding this takes discernment and genuine care for the person behind the work.

Which is why I’m officially back at With Content. Even as the company grows, I hope to also grow in my capacity to discern and care for the team.

Here’s to becoming a truly calm content marketing agency.
